1st XI Award Winners 2020

The Heyford CC Annual Presentation Evening can be added to the long list of social events curtailed by Covid-19. But the statistics have been reviewed, votes have been cast, and trophies have been engraved. Over the next few weeks, we will be presenting the awards to the outstanding players from the 2020 season, so watch this space!…

This year, there are two new names on the Heyford CC trophies, with the Fowler family sweeping the board with the Batsmen of the Year, Bowler of the Year, Players’ Player of the Year, and Young Player of the Year awards.

Ed Fowler’s performances opening the batting in 2020 were majestic. The effortless class with which Ed accumulated 246 runs at an average of 49 meant he was a clear winner of the 1st XI batting award, as well as earning him the 2020 Heyford CC Players’ Player of the Year accolade.

While Ed’s youngest son Frankie was busy impressing with bat and ball for the 3rd XI in his first season in adult cricket, eldest son Freddie was terrorising Divison 2 with some devastating spells of fast bowling. Freddie ended the season with 14 wickets at an average of 13.07, and best bowling of 4 for 43 to claim the 1st XI bowling award. These bowling performances combined with a memorable 30* with the bat in the quarter-final against Weldon CC also saw Freddie secure the Young Player of the Year award.

Congratulations to the Fowler family on a fantastic season!

Next up, the 2nd XI…
