End of the Cricket Season
27 Sep 2022 by Rob Pardon
As the weather begins to turn cooler, and the days get shorter, cricket season is now over (our last action was a band of merry folk returning from the Isle of Wight end of season tour this weekend).
On behalf of the club, we want to thank you for being part of the club this season, whether as regular or occasional player, volunteer, or supporter. All three teams recorded varying mid-table finishes, with some memorable performances and victories across all three sides. We were delighted to be able see some of younger Heyford CC players make their debuts and adult cricket and hopefully making the first memories of many. We’ve also seen a number of players step up to more senior teams, both on merit and to ‘help out’, the first is great to see, and the second we are thankful for.
The club is also thankful to its large tranche of volunteers and supporters, including pitch preparation, organising teams, sponsors, our scorers and umpire, and everyone working behind the scenes. It is no easy feat to keep our ever growing club going through the summer.
To wrap up the 2022 season, a couple dates for your diary. We have our usual end of season Annual Awards Dinner and Celebration on Friday 11th November. Fully paid members have their tickets included in their membership, and additional tickets are available to purchase via the website/app. Look forward to seeing as many of you as possible.
We’ll be back next year, with three teams raring to go. Winter nets will start in early 2023 (details TBC).
